Iceberg Lake (Day Eight)

Buffet breakfast, yes again (our only option)! A big hike in store to Iceberg Lake (12.4 miles). We thought we should get an early start since the hike would take much of the day. We started out across the swiftcurrent trail around 9:15. After a slight detour getting to the trailhead we were on our way to Iceberg Lake along with many other hikers. Of course we were faster than all of them and were making good time. A quick break at Ptarnigan Falls (yes there are waterfalls EVERYWHERE) got us passed a number of more hikers. The views leading up to the lake were again spectacular with mountains, glaciers, wild flowers and more waterfalls.

We arrived at Iceberg Lake and it’s not had to see how it got its name. The lake is fully of icebergs that still havent melted at the start of august and probably wont. We hung out and snacked at the lake for a half hour or so and started our trek back to the hotel for a lazy afternoon. We were happy to see the hotel appear as we came out of the trees. Getting back to the room we napped, showered and headed out to get a snack and a beer. After resting our legs we went to the dining room for dinner and it was ok. Unfortunately we had to get up around 6:15 the next morning, so early to bed it was.
